Isabelle Dunkeson and Jerry Wexler founded the Natural Healing Arts School of Massage Therapy, now located in both Tupelo and Southaven, Mississippi. It is a sister school modeled after The Sarasota School of Natural Healing Arts in Sarasota, Florida. This internationally-acclaimed school was founded by Isabelle Dunkeson in 1976 and was Southwest Florida's first massage school. Today, the School offers extensive professional educational courses and graduate level studies in massage therapy.
Our two school locations in Tupelo and Southaven, Mississippi will bring to its students the benefit of the experience and resources of the Florida school. The School is a Mississippi corporation.
On March 30, 2001 Mississippi passed legislation making it the 30th state to regulate Massage Therapy. This gives Mississippi a Massage Board and puts us on a level playing field with other health care professionals. The new law requires 700 total hours (see Curriculum) and for Mississippi massage schools to be nationally certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodyworks.
The School is an American Massage Therapy Association Council of Schools Registered Member and is a Qualified School listed with the NCBTMB (National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Body Work).
The Natural Healing Arts School of Massage Therapy meets or exceeds the coursework requirements, formal education and training required for eligibility to become a candidate to sit for the National Certification Exam.
