Curriculum


Program Objectives

  1. To prepare students for careers as Massage Therapists.
  2. To assist students in the development of business and communication skills which will enable them to conduct a business in a professional manner.
  3. To give the practicing professional a thorough knowledge of the structure and function of the body as related to their field of study.

Upon completion of The Natural Healing Arts School of Massage Therapy program, graduates will be:

  1. Competent in effective techniques and knowledge in theory of the specialized courses of study.
  2. Qualified, eligible, and well prepared to sit for the State and National Certification Board (NCTMB) Examinations.
Course Hours Overview of Content
Massage Theory and Practicum 200 Overview of Massage Therapy as a professional career; includes history of massage philosophy, professional ethics, career opportunities, and the different types of massage techniques.
Science of the Human Body 200 Structure and function of the body from a cellular to a systemic level. Special emphasis is placed on the muscular, skeletal, nervous and lymphatic systems, as they relate to the practice of massage.
Allied Modalities 200 Related theory and experiential modalities that comprise the practice of massage. Includes Business/Marketing Massage, Medical Massage Techniques, Rehabilitative Techniques, Oriental Techniques, Nutrition, and other areas
Student Clinic 100 Involves massage, rehabilitation, or Shiatsu sessions unique to client situations. Students learn to plan, execute and evaluate 40 one-hour sessions under supervision.
